2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup vegetable oil
*2 1/2 cups applesauce
2 lg. eggs
1 cup finely chopped walnuts (optional)
*i take 4 large fresh unpeeled apples and 1/8 cup sugar in a food processor to make a chunky consistancy fresh applesauce

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 baking pan. In large bowl SIFT flour, sugar, salt, baking soda baking powder, and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix with a mixer the oil, apple sauce and eggs. Pour mixture in the dry ingredients and mix with mixer until blended. Add nuts and stir. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 35 minutes. Cool and serve plain or with a very light dusting of powdered sugar.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Different types of apples have different flavors and textures, so choose the ones that you like best. For a sweeter applesauce, use sweeter apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji. For a tarter applesauce, use tarter apples like Granny Smith or Braeburn.
  • Peel and core the apples: This is optional, but it will give you a smoother applesauce. If you don't want to peel the apples, you can scrub them well with a vegetable brush.
  • Add other ingredients: You can add other ingredients to your applesauce to flavor it, such as cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, or ginger. You can also add other fruits, such as pears or peaches.
  • Cook the applesauce until it reaches your desired consistency: The longer you cook the applesauce, the thicker it will become. If you like chunky applesauce, cook it for a shorter amount of time. If you like smooth applesauce, cook it for a longer amount of time.
  • Enjoy your applesauce! Applesauce can be eaten on its own, used as a topping for pancakes or waffles, or used as an ingredient in other recipes.
