1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
2 cups pitted sour cherries
¾ cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Steps:

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 c fresh peaches (peeled and sliced thickly)
2 c fresh bing cherries (pitted & halved)
1/2 c water
1 stick real unsalted butter ( or 8 tablespoons)
2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 c milk
1 c brown sugar
1 c sugar
pinch salt (optional)
cinnamon (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2. Combine the Peaches, Cherries, Brown sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well.
  • 3. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat. Reserve a half cup of liquid.
  • 4. Put the butter in a 9x13 baking dish and place in oven to melt.
  • 5. In a bowl sift sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • 6. Slowly whisk in milk & half cup of the reserved peach/cherry liquid to dry ingredients.
  • 7. Pour mixture over melted butter in your baking dish. Do not stir.
  • 8. With a slotted spoon, put fruit on top evenly then gently pour the remaining liquid over the top of the fruit.
  • 9. Sprinkle the top of the fruit with cinnamon if using.
  • 10. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes or until crust has risen to the top and is golden. *Tip* Place a pan under your dish just in case any juices want to escape!
  • 11. Optionally you can sprinkle sugar over the top of the crust. (My Gram always use to)
  • 12. Enjoy warm with a nice scoop of ice cream, or let it cool down in the fridge. =)

Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe cherries. This will give your cobbler the best flavor.
  • Pit the cherries before using them. This will make it easier to eat the cobbler.
  • Use a variety of cherries. This will give your cobbler a more complex flavor.
  • Don't overcook the cherries. They should be soft, but still hold their shape.
  • Use a good quality biscuit or cobbler mix. This will help to ensure that your cobbler turns out light and fluffy.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the cobbler tough.
  • Bake the cobbler until the topping is golden brown and the cherries are bubbling. This will ensure that the cobbler is cooked through.
  • Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. This will help to prevent the cobbler from falling apart.
  • Serve the cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This will make the cobbler even more delicious.

Conclusion:

Fresh cherry cobbler is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and tart cherries, flaky crust, and creamy filling, this cobbler is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a special dessert, give this fresh cherry cobbler a try.
