Steps:
- In a bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, salt, marjoram, thyme and rosemary. In a saucepan over low heat, heat milk, water and 1/4 cup butter to 120°-130°. Pour over the dry ingredients. Add egg and blend well. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes. Punch dough down. Divide into three equal portions. Shape each into a 28-in. rope. Braid ropes; pinch ends to seal. Tie braid into a knot. Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown; cover with foil during the last 15 minutes to prevent overbrowning. Melt remaining butter; brush over bread. Sprinkle with additional herbs if desired. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.

GARDEN HERB BREAD
Steps:
- Warm water in microwave to luke warm. Combine all ingredients in bread maker and set to dough setting. Remove dough after cycle and form into a braid. Let rise for about 30 minutes. Bake 350 approximately 25 minutes.
Tips:
- Choose the right herbs: Use fresh herbs whenever possible for the best flavor. Some good options include basil, chives, dill, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, and thyme.
- Prepare the herbs properly: Wash the herbs thoroughly and pat them dry before using. If you are using dried herbs, crush them lightly before adding them to the bread dough.
- Add the herbs at the right time: For most bread recipes, you should add the herbs during the last few minutes of mixing the dough. This will help to preserve their flavor and prevent them from becoming overcooked.
- Don't overdo it: A little bit of herbs goes a long way. Too much can overpower the other flavors in the bread.
- Be creative: There are endless possibilities when it comes to using herbs in bread. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorite flavors.
Conclusion:
Using herbs in bread is a great way to add flavor and variety to your baking. With a little experimentation, you can create delicious and unique breads that will impress your family and friends. So next time you're in the kitchen, don't be afraid to add some herbs to your bread dough. You might just be surprised at how much you enjoy it!
