Steps:
- Preheat oven to 450°F with rack in middle.
- For white button or cremini mushrooms, halve lengthwise. For larger mushrooms such as portabella or king trumpets, cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch slices. For oyster mushrooms, tear into small clumps.
- Place mushrooms in a small roasting pan or rimmed sheet pan and toss with 2 tablespoons of the oil, garlic, 1/8 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Top with 1 tablespoon of the butter, cut into pieces, and roast in oven, stirring occasionally, until golden and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter with remaining 1 tablespoon oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add breadcrumbs and cook, stirring frequently, 2 minutes. Add thyme and red pepper flakes and cook (there may be some popping), stirring frequently, until breadcrumbs are golden and crisp, about 2 minutes more. Remove from heat and stir in parsley.
- To serve, transfer hot roasted mushrooms to a platter and sprinkle with crumbs.

DEEP FRIED BREADED MUSHROOMS
This is a great snack that I like to make with my mushrooms. I prefer Panko bread crumbs for deep frying as they always come out nice and crispy. Does not have to be made in a deep fryer, but definitely helps with taste and even crispness. You can always change seasoning amounts to taste or use different ones like italian seasoning :)

Steps:
- Leave mushrooms whole, trimming stems if you prefer, but not necessary.
- Mix garlic, chili powder, any other seasonings you would like with eggs and beat with fork for about a minute or two in a medium bowl.
- Put mushrooms in and let sit for a couple minutes.
- Dip mushrooms into bread crumbs, coating as thoroughly as possible, and fry in batches for 4-5 minutes.
- serve with soy sauce, ranch dressing, or your favorite dip.
Tips:
- Use fresh garlic and mushrooms. This will give your dish the best flavor.
- Don't overcrowd the pan. If you do, the mushrooms will steam instead of sautéing, which will make them soggy.
- Season the mushrooms generously. Garlic, salt, and pepper are all essential seasonings for this dish.
- Cook the mushrooms until they are tender but still have a little bit of bite to them. Overcooked mushrooms are tough and chewy.
- Add the breadcrumbs towards the end of cooking. This will help them to crisp up and add a nice texture to the dish.
- Serve the mushrooms immediately. They are best enjoyed fresh out of the pan.
Conclusion:
Garlic butter mushrooms with breadcrumbs are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish or appetizer. They are perfect for any occasion, from a casual weeknight dinner to a special holiday meal. So next time you're looking for a simple but flavorful dish, give these mushrooms a try. You won't be disappointed!
