1 Tbsp. butter
1 onion, sliced
2 Tbsp. GREY POUPON Hearty Spicy Brown Mustard
2 cups CLAUSSEN Sauerkraut, rinsed

Steps:

  • Cut sausage into 3 pieces, then cut each piece lengthwise in half. Cook in large nonstick skillet on medium heat 5 to 7 min. or until evenly browned, turning occasionally. Remove from skillet; cover to keep warm.
  • Melt butter in skillet. Add onions; cook 3 min. or until tender, stirring frequently. Stir in mustard. Add sauerkraut; mix lightly. Cook 5 min., stirring occasionally.
  • Top with sausage; cover. Cook 5 min. or until heated through.

This is a great all in one skillet dinner. My best friend prepared this for me on the first day home from her honeymoon. It was the first time I ate dinner with them after they married. I eat it with fond memories all the time. It is a regular in our home. Even if you dont like sauerkraut, you will like this meal

1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 (15 ounce) can sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
1 medium onion, chopped
1 1/2 cups instant rice, uncooked
1 1/2 lbs 85% lean ground beef
2 (4 ounce) cans tomato sauce
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Take a dutch oven or large skillet, must have lid. Melt butter in bottom on med heat. Add sauerkraut and spread to cover, add chopped onion on top of this layer, then sprinkle the rice on top of this, crumble raw hamburger over the top of this, salt and pepper. Then according to your taste pour 2 to 3 cans of tomato sauce over this. Important.do not stir. Cover with lid.
  • Bring to a boil and turn down to nice slow simmer. Simmer for 25 minutes. Make sure it is simmering slow enough not to burn the bottom.
  • Dinner is done, serve with hot rolls and salad.

1 cup chopped onion
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 can (16 ounces) sauerkraut, rinsed and well drained
1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3/4 teaspoon salt, optional

Steps:

  • In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender; drain. Stir in rice, tomato sauce, sauerkraut, caraway seeds, water, pepper, and salt if desired. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer about 25 minutes or until the rice is tender.
