Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 c heavy cream
2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp light corn syrup
2 c semi sweet baking chips(12oz bag)
1/4 c butter flavored shortening
dash of salt optional

Steps:

  • 1. WHISK together cream, sugar and corn syrup in a 2-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking until sugar is dissolved. Remove pan from heat. Whisk in chocolate chips until melted and mixture is smooth. Cut shortening into pieces. Add to frosting, whisking until smooth. Pour into bowl. Refrigerate until spreadable, about 30-45 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of your chocolate will directly impact the taste of your frosting. Use a semisweet or bittersweet chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%.
  • Use heavy cream: Heavy cream will give your frosting a rich, creamy texture. If you don't have heavy cream, you can use milk, but your frosting will be thinner.
  • Don't overbeat the frosting: Overbeating the frosting will make it stiff and grainy. Beat it just until it is smooth and creamy.
  • Let the frosting cool slightly before using it: This will help it to thicken and set.
  • Use the frosting immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days: If you are storing the frosting in the refrigerator, let it come to room temperature before using it.

Conclusion:

This rich, glossy chocolate frosting is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be used on cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other desserts. With its smooth, creamy texture and intense chocolate flavor, this frosting is sure to be a hit.
