GLUTEN-FREE SALMON BURGERS

Bread-crumbs are so over-rated!!! Try brown rice instead with an egg to hold your salmon burger together. I served this with Dill Mayonaise and a squeeze of lemon. For the gluten digesters pop them in a bun with lettuce and tomato.

Time 30m

Yield 8 patties, 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 (150 g) cans , boneless skinless salmon (I hate the bones!)
1 cup cooked brown rice
2 eggs
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon cilantro or 1 tablespoon herbs, of choice
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Form into patties. Oil up George Forman and grill those patties until done. About 15 minutes on about 300°F I left the lid up until the last 5 minutes to keep them from drying out so much, then I oiled the tops of the patties and closed the lid.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Salmon: Opt for fresh, wild-caught salmon fillets. Avoid farmed or frozen salmon, as they may have a stronger fishy flavor and contain more contaminants.
  • Handle the Salmon Gently: When flaking the cooked salmon, use a gentle touch to preserve the delicate texture. Avoid overworking the salmon, as this can result in a mushy texture.
  • Use Fresh Herbs: Fresh herbs, such as dill, parsley, and chives, add a burst of flavor and freshness to the salmon burgers. If using dried herbs, reduce the amount by half, as they are more concentrated.
  • Don't Overcook the Burgers: Salmon burgers should be cooked until just cooked through to maintain their moist and tender texture. Overcooking can dry out the burgers and make them tough.
  • Use a Gentle Touch When Forming the Burgers: Handle the salmon mixture gently when forming the burgers to prevent them from becoming dense and tough. Use a light touch to shape the burgers, and avoid overworking the mixture.
  • Serve with a Variety of Sauces and Toppings: Salmon burgers are versatile and can be served with a variety of sauces and toppings. Some popular options include tartar sauce, remoulade, guacamole, and salsa. You can also add your favorite burger toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese.

Conclusion:

Gluten-free salmon burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. They are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and other essential nutrients. By following these tips, you can create moist, flavorful, and gluten-free salmon burgers that everyone will enjoy.
