I always loved the taste of feta cheese. I did not want just to do a meat patty with feta inside, so I came up with this sloppy joe version. -Sonya Labbe, West Hollywood, California

1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 small red onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Romaine leaves
6 kaiser rolls, split and toasted
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until beef is no longer pink, 6-8 minutes, breaking up beef into crumbles; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and oregano. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until sauce is slightly thickened, 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally., Place romaine on roll bottoms; top with meat mixture. Sprinkle with feta cheese; replace tops. , Freeze option: Freeze cooled meat mixture in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a saucepan, stirring occasionally and adding water if necessary.

1 small onion, chopped
⅓ cup chopped green pepper
1 pound lean ground beef
1 ½ cups Heinz Tomato Ketchup
1 tablespoon Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
8 sandwich buns

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large frying pan set over medium-high heat. Saute onions and green pepper for 5 minutes.
  • Add beef to the pan. Cook, stirring until browned, about 5 to 10 minutes. Drain off fat.
  • Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened. Serve on sandwich buns.
