Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 cup whole milk
Coarse salt and ground pepper
Ground nutmeg
6 ounces thinly sliced deli ham
1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
1 large egg, lightly beaten

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality ingredients: Use good quality puff pastry, ham, cheese, and eggs for the best results.
  • Work quickly with the puff pastry: Puff pastry is best when it is cold. If it starts to get warm, it will become difficult to work with and the results will not be as good.
  • Roll out the puff pastry evenly: This will ensure that the pastry cooks evenly.
  • Be careful not to overfill the puff pastry: Too much filling will make the pastry difficult to fold and seal.
  • Brush the pastry with egg wash before baking: This will give the pastry a golden brown color and a crispy texture.
  • Bake the puff pastry until it is golden brown: This will ensure that the pastry is cooked through.
  • Let the puff pastry cool slightly before slicing: This will prevent the pastry from falling apart.

Conclusion:

Ham and cheese in puff pastry is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. It is perfect for any occasion, from a casual get-together to a formal dinner party. With its combination of flaky pastry, savory ham, and melted cheese, this dish is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
