SO GOOD HAMBURGER STEAK

So Good Hamburger Steak image

This recipe may already be used by many, so easy I almost didn't post. But, you just never know who may have never thought of it...delicious with fried onions and mushrooms too! Enjoy!

Provided by Cassie *

Categories     Burgers

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb ground beef or chuck
1/2 pkg lipton beefy onion soup mix for 1 pound burger - whole package for 2 pounds or to taste
1/4 onion - grated
salt & pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Place beef in bowl- stir in soup mix and grated onion. Shape into oval patties. However many you're making. I usually make 2 - 3 for the men of my house. They start out pretty big, but as you know they shrink when cooking. I turn my grill to high. I coat both sides of meat with olive oil. Salt & pepper. Place on hot grill. I don't touch for 3 - 4 minutes. Turn to other side and cook another 3 - 4 min or until juices run clear. They should be very juicy as you shouldn't press down on then anytime during grilling. These could be broiled as well. Enjoy! So easy, yet satisfying.

HAMBURGER STEAK WITH CREAMY ONION GRAVY

Hamburger Steak with Creamy Onion Gravy image

Tried this with my family and they really liked it.

Provided by Debbie Gurley

Categories     Burgers

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 1/2 lb ground chuck
3/4 c chopped onion
1 egg
1 Tbsp salt and pepper
1/3 c of all purpose flour, for dipping the patties in
1/4 c vegetable oil
1 large onion
1 c beef broth
1 c water
1/4 tsp of seasoned salt
1/4 c of all purpose flour, for the gravy
2 c sliced mushrooms, optional
1 tsp garlic powder

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the oil over medium high in a large heavy-bottomed stainless skillet.
  • 2. In a medium sized bowl, combine the ground chuck, chopped onion, egg, seasoned salt, garlic powder and pepper.
  • 3. Shape into 4 to 6 equal sized patties. Dip each patty into the flour and cook until browned on both sides; remove and set those aside.
  • 4. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook over medium heat until lightly caramelized, stirring regularly. Add Mushrooms if so desired. Whisk together the beef broth and water with 1/4 cup of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of seasoned salt and pepper to taste until well combined. Pour into the skillet with the onions and stir constantly, until mixture begins to thicken.
  • 5. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, turn to coat, add sliced mushrooms if using, and reduce heat to simmer. Cook, covered, for about 20 minutes longer. Serve with mashed potatoes and some green beans, or a mixed garden salad on the side.
  • 6. Cook's Notes: The brown gravy for these is pretty good all on its own since its reliant on the pan drippings, but if you have it, just a splash of Kitchen Bouquet adds a bit more depth and is delicious. If you find that you need a binder, add in some fresh bread crumbs to the ground beef. If using pre-made hamburger steak patties, omit the onion, egg and hot sauce, and sprinkle both sides of the patties with the seasoned salt, garlic powder and pepper, pressing in the seasoning a bit. Then dip each patty in the flour and proceed with the remaining recipe.

GRACELAND HAMBURGER STEAK

Provided by Dana Behm

Categories     Burgers

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 lb ground Beef
1 large egg
1/4 c italian bread crumbs
1/2 c parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp seasoning salt
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 c Thinly sliced onions
1 c all purpose flour
1 can(s) beef broth, reduced sodium
1/2 tsp seasoning salt

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, pepper, salt, onion & garlic powders, and worcestershire sauce.
  • 2. Form into 8 balls, and flatten into patties. In a small bowl with the flour, dip the patties in the flour until the whole patty is nicely covered with a light covering of flour.
  • 3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties and the onion slices in the oil until patties are nicely browned. About 4 minutes each side...I fry them a little longer...I like them crispy! Remove the beef patties to a plate and keep them warm.
  • 4. Take the remaining flour and sprinkle 2 to 4 tablespoons over the onions and drippings in the skillet. Stir in flour with a fork or whisk, scraping bit of beef off of the bottom as you stir.
  • 5. Gradually mix in the beef broth. You can season to taste with seasoning salt or your favorite seasoning.
  • 6. Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return the patties to the gravy, cover, and then simmer for another 15 to 20 minutes.

HAMBURGER STEAK WITH ONIONS AND GRAVY RECIPE - (4.4/5)

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy Recipe - (4.4/5) image

Provided by á-17891

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 pound ground beef
1 egg
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon cooking sherry
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

Steps:

  • n a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 8 balls, and flatten into patties. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties and onion in the oil until patties are nicely browned, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the beef patties to a plate, and keep warm. Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet. Stir in flour with a fork, scraping bits of beef off of the bottom as you stir. Gradually mix in the beef broth and sherry. Season with seasoned salt. Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for another 15 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground beef: For the best results, use a combination of chuck and sirloin ground beef. This will give your hamburger steak a good balance of flavor and texture.
  • Season the beef well: Don't be afraid to season your hamburger steak generously. A good starting point is 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper per pound of beef.
  • Form the beef into patties: Make sure the patties are evenly shaped and about 3/4 inch thick. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Cook the patties over medium heat: This will help to prevent them from burning on the outside and staying raw on the inside.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the patties: They are done when they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the patties rest before serving: This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meat, making them more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Hamburger steak is a classic American dish that is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a few simple tips, you can make hamburger steak that is juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give hamburger steak a try.
