Steps:
- Mix soy and sugar in small sauce pan over low heat just enough to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients.
- Let cool and store in a glass jar in refrigerator.
- A light inexpensive soy works well for this, just make sure it is real not one with caramel coloring as an ingredient. Tamari is a bit too heavy for this, though will work in a pinch.
- I use my parmesan cheese grater to grate ginger--comes out well that way.
- This is also great on noodles, tofu, vegetables, added to stir frys, besides grilled meats and burgers.

Tips:
- Use fresh pineapple juice for the best flavor. If you don't have fresh pineapple juice, you can use canned pineapple juice, but be sure to dilute it with water to reduce the sweetness.
- Soy sauce is the traditional ingredient for teriyaki marinade, but you can also use tamari or coconut aminos for a gluten-free option.
- Use a variety of sweeteners to add complexity to the flavor of the marinade. Brown sugar, honey, and maple syrup are all good options.
- Add some grated ginger or garlic to the marinade for a more savory flavor.
- Let the meat marinate for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 24 hours. If you marinate the meat for too long, it can become tough.
- When cooking the meat, be sure to grill or broil it over high heat to caramelize the marinade.
- Serve the meat with rice, vegetables, and a side of teriyaki sauce.
Conclusion:
Hawaiian teriyaki marinade is a versatile and flavorful marinade that can be used on a variety of meats. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you are grilling, broiling, or baking your meat, Hawaiian teriyaki marinade will add a delicious and savory flavor that your family and friends will love.
