HEARTY BAKED BEEF STEW
This is such an easy way to make a wonderful beef stew. You don't need to brown the meat first-just combine it with hearty chunks of carrots, potatoes and celery, and let it all cook together in a flavorful gravy. HEARTY OVEN BAKED BEEF STEW
I have been making this for years. It comes from Taste of Home. I don't remember the issue but it was quite early. It is also in the 1999 TOH annual cookbook. The aroma while this is baking will drive you insane. This is a great cold weather stew that you will make many times over!

Tips:
- When choosing beef for stew, look for a chuck roast or a topside roast. These cuts are tough but have a lot of flavor and will become tender when braised.
- To brown the beef, sear it in a hot pan over medium-high heat. This will give the beef a nice crust and help to develop its flavor.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when browning the beef. If you do, the beef will not brown evenly and will release too much liquid.
- After browning the beef, remove it from the pan and set it aside. Then, add the vegetables to the pan and cook them until they are softened.
- Add the beef back to the pan with the vegetables and add the beef broth, red wine, and herbs. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
- Serve the beef stew over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Conclusion:
Beef stew is a classic comfort food that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a few simple tips, you can make a delicious and hearty beef stew that your family and friends will love.
