1 ½ cup warm water (approximately 110°F)
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter, room temperature and sliced into 1/4 inch pieces
1½ tsp salt
2 tbsp white sugar
4 cups bread flour
2 ¼ tsp yeast (instant, active dry, or bread machine)

Steps:

  • Add the ingredients in the order listed to the bread maker pan. The ingredients are listed in the order that Cuisinart machines require them to go. Check your brand's manual for the correct order to add ingredients. If it differs, add them in the order that your manual states.
  • Select the basic/white bread setting. Choose the 2 lb loaf size and your preferred crust color. *see notes for making a smaller loaf
  • Optional: At the end of the last kneading cycle, remove the kneading paddle. If you miss this step, remove the paddle using oven mitts after the bread cools.

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
3 tablespoons sugar plus 1/2 teaspoon sugar
2-1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
1 tablespoon salt
6-1/4 to 6-3/4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons canola oil

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and 1/2 teaspoon sugar in warm water; let stand until bubbles form on surface. Whisk together remaining 3 tablespoons sugar, salt and 3 cups flour. Stir oil into yeast mixture; pour into flour mixture and beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 8-10 minutes. ⅓ cup (75 grams ) half and half, see note
3 tablespoons (45 grams) softened butter, salted or unsalted
3 ¾ cups (450 grams) bread flour, see note
3 tablespoons (35g) sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ teaspoons instant yeast or active dry

Steps:

  • Place the ingredients into the pan of a 1 ½ to 2 pound bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Select the program for basic white bread. Press Start.
  • When the baking completes, remove the pan from the machine. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Remove the bread from the pan, sometimes this requires a shake to get the bread out of the pan. Set the loaf on a wire rack to cool.

  • This makes a two-pound loaf.

  • I made mine with the bread machine set at medium crust. It came out a little darker than I'd like. The next time I'm going to use the light crust setting.
  • Check on the dough after five or ten minutes of kneading. It should be a smooth, round ball. If it's too dry add liquid a teaspoon at a time until it looks OK. If it looks too wet, add flour a tablespoon at a time until it looks OK. Most of the time though, the above amounts should be just right.

Cut it into squares and top with Prosciutto Panino rolled in Mozzarella cheese and toasted under the broiler for 5 min.... oh my, this is dangerously good! It is so easy to make. Can't wait to have this with a bowl of soup or top with Pizza topping, or to just dip in garlic olive oil. This comes from a bread machine cookbook with instructions to layer ingredients liquid first. Yummers! :) Family Favorite! (Cooking time does not include dough cycle or rising)

3 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons dry milk

Steps:

  • BREAD DOUGH CYCLE:.
  • Add lukewarm water to pan.
  • Add bread flour, dry milk, sugar and salt to pan. Tap pan to settle dry ingredients, then level ingredients, pushing some of the mixture into corners. Place butter into corners of pan.
  • Make a well in center of dry ingredients; add yeast, lock pan into bread maker.
  • Program for DOUGH. Start bread maker. When done, remove pan from bread maker. Place dough onto floured surface. Let rest 15 minutes.
  • Knead dough about 1 minute. Roll dough into a rectangle to fit a jelly roll pan or large cookie sheet, about 15x10 inches. Place on greased pan and press dough evenly into pan forming an edge. Cover and let rise in warm, draft-free place for 20-30 minutes until slightly risen. With handle/end of wooden spoon, make indentations in dough at every inch. Brush dough with olive oil, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, Italian Seasoning (Grinder) and garlic salt.
  • Bake in preheated 400' F oven for 12 minutes or until nicely browned. Cool slightly and cut into squares for serving. Can be served warm or cooled.
