HOMEMADE GARLIC-PARMESAN TATER TOTS. SERIOUSLY RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Homemade Garlic-Parmesan Tater Tots. Seriously Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by raklisa2020

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 large red potatoes (1 1/2 pounds)
2 cloves of roasted garlic
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 dash freshly ground sea salt
Olive oil for greasing pan

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400° F. Scrub the potatoes clean and roast until they are fork tender. Cool them rapidly by plunging them in ice water. Change the water, and repeat, until the potatoes are cool. Shred the potatoes on the large holes of a box grater. You can peel them first; I didn't. Place the other ingredients into the bowl with the grated potatoes and use a fork to fully combine everything. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and rub it with a layer of olive oil. Preheat oven to 425° F. Using about a teaspoon of the potato mixture, form it into a cylinder about 1 inch long. Place on baking sheet and repeat until all the tots are made. Bake about 35 to 40 minutes, turning once about 20 minutes into the cooking time. Serve hot with ketchup.

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for tater tots, as they have a high starch content that makes them crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
  • Boil the potatoes until they are tender, but not too soft. You should be able to easily pierce them with a fork, but they should not be falling apart.
  • Mash the potatoes until they are smooth. Lumps will make it difficult to form the tater tots.
  • Season the potatoes generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. You can also add other seasonings, such as onion powder, paprika, or chili powder.
  • Form the tater tots into 1-inch balls. If the mixture is too sticky, you can wet your hands to make it easier to work with.
  • Freeze the tater tots for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This will help them to hold their shape when they are frying.
  • Cook the tater tots in hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy. You can fry them in a deep fryer or in a shallow pan with a little bit of oil.

Conclusion:

Tater tots are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a little bit of planning, you can make homemade tater tots that are just as good as the ones you get from the store. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy side dish, give tater tots a try. You won't be disappointed!
