RED WINE CRANBERRY SAUCE WITH HONEY

Red Wine Cranberry Sauce With Honey image

What does a chef in Napa Valley do to jazz up her cranberry sauce? Add wine, of course. This recipe was inspired by Cindy Pawlcyn, the Napa Valley chef and cookbook author, and includes smashed fresh ginger for extra verve. It's more tart than most cranberry sauce recipes, so if you like yours sweeter, feel free to add more sugar or a little more honey.

HONEY CRAN-RASPBERRY PIE

Honey Cran-Raspberry Pie image

This cranberry raspberry pie is my son Michael's recipe. It was passed down to him when he got married in 2002. The pie is quite tart, but it pairs well with a favorite vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. —Beverly Batty, Forest Lake, Minnesota

Tips:

  • Use fresh cranberries for the best flavor. Frozen cranberries can also be used, but they may not be as tart.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can chop the cranberries by hand. Just be sure to chop them finely so that they blend well with the other ingredients.
  • If you don't have honey wine, you can use another type of white wine, such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc.
  • If you don't have a tart pan, you can use a regular pie pan. Just be sure to trim the excess dough around the edges of the pan.
  • To make sure the tart is cooked through, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the tart is done.

Conclusion:

This honey wine cranberry tart is a delicious and festive dessert that is perfect for any occasion. The tart filling is sweet and tangy, and the honey wine glaze adds a touch of elegance. The crust is flaky and buttery, and it pairs perfectly with the tart filling. This tart is sure to be a hit with your family and friends!
