  • Use Fresh Herbs and Spices: Fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or sage add a burst of flavor. Experiment with different spices like garlic powder, paprika, or onion powder to enhance the taste.
  • Don't Overcrowd the Pan: Avoid overcrowding the baking dish to allow for proper heat circulation and even cooking.
  • Bake at High Temperature Initially: Start by baking the potatoes at a high temperature (400°F) for about 15 minutes. This creates a crispy crust on top.
  • Reduce Temperature and Cover: After the initial baking, reduce the temperature to 350°F and cover the dish. This helps the potatoes cook evenly and become tender.
  • Add Horseradish at the End: Stir in freshly grated horseradish towards the end of cooking to preserve its sharp flavor and prevent it from overpowering the dish.
  • Garnish Before Serving: Top the casserole with chopped fresh herbs or grated Parmesan cheese before serving for an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal.
