ICE CREAM JELLO

Ice Cream Jello image

I had this recipe at a shower over 20 years ago and since then has been a must have at holiday's, graduation parties and get-togethers. I use a glass 9x13-inch dish and after it's done it's really pretty to look at and even better to eat.. It is Better if You use vanilla and not vanilla bean ice cream. Thanks for trying my ice cream recipe. :)

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple (do not drain)
1/2 cup sugar
1 (3 ounce) package lime jello (or orange jello)
1/2 pint whipping cream
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, bring pineapple and sugar to full rolling boil on stove-top; remove from heat.
  • Stir in box of jello and let cool.
  • In a separate bowl, whip whipping cream (unflavored - don't worry about adding any sugar because this dish is sweet enough). Fold in sour cream to whipped cream, then add to jello mix and whip until it's completely mixed together.
  • Line bottom of 9 x 5" loaf pan with wax paper. Gently pour creamy jello mix into prepared pan.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and freeze for at least 4-6 hours (preferably overnight).
  • When ready to eat, remove from the freezer and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Slice in half lengthwise, and then into 3/4" slices.

Tips:

  • Prep Work: Ensure all ingredients are measured and prepared before starting. Soften cream cheese and cool whipped topping beforehand.
  • Jell-O: Use your favorite flavors of Jell-O or pudding mix. You can also mix different flavors to create a unique taste.
  • Crushed Pineapple: Drain the crushed pineapple well to avoid excess moisture in the salad.
  • Whipped Topping: For a lighter and fluffier salad, use homemade whipped topping instead of store-bought.
  • Chill Time: Allow the salad to chill for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor and texture.
  • Garnish: Before serving, top the salad with additional whipped topping, fresh fruit, or chopped nuts for an appealing presentation.
