DELICIOUS HOMEMADE ICED COFFEE
I based this homemade iced coffee on Starbucks® bottled Frappuccino®. My husband and I love it and our fridge is never without a pitcher of this super easy, frugal alternative to the expensive stuff. Even though winter's coming and we live in Pennsylvania's Lake Erie snowbelt, we drink this year-round as an alternative to soda and other soft drinks. This particular recipe lends itself to endless variations limited only by your imagination!

ICED CARAMEL COFFEE
I like to make up a batch of this early in the day so I know it will be well chilled when the afternoon heat rolls in. The whipped cream is optional, but - as always - a delicious touch. If you like making cold coffee drinks, do get in the habit of making coffee ice cubes since they won't dilute your drink. This tastes great made with Cinnamon Viennese coffee - in which case you can skip the cinnamon garnish. But any type coffee will do nicely. Time includes chilling.

Steps:
- While the coffee is still hot, pour it into your measuring cup and add the caramel sauce (Hint, you needn't actually measure the sauce in a separate cup if you're using a 2-cup measure for the coffee. Just pour in the sauce until the coffee rises to the 1 3/4 cup mark0.
- Add the sugar, too, then stir until both the sugar and caramel sauce have dissolved. Transfer to the refrigerator and chill until cold (You can hasten the process by using the freezer, but don't let it freeze.).
- When you're ready to serve, divide the coffee between 2 tall chilled glasses filled with coffee ice cubes.
- Add milk or half-and-half to each glass, to taste.
- Top with whipped cream, if desired, then garnish with cinnamon if you're using it. Finally, drizzle a little additional caramel sauce over the top as well.
- Serve.
ICED COFFEE MOCHA
I have really been on a iced coffee kick as of late. This is one version I've tried and really like. You may use cooled coffee, but I think the flavor is better if you pour hot coffee over ice. Time doesn't include time to brew coffee.

MCDONALD'S VANILLA ICED COFFEE
This is the basic recipe for McDonald's iced coffee. NOTE: We use Dunkin Donuts coffee beans (available at most supermarkets in the USA now) we ground at the store and brewed in a French press. If you can't find that, I recommend that you use a fairly mellow light roast. Millstone Kona Blend or Hawaiian blend are also great. You won't need a French press, but obviously, well made coffee couldn't hurt this. If you follow the directions and use quality ingredients, you'll wonder why you're paying $2.50 or more for iced coffee anywhere else. Feel free to double or quadruple the recipe if you have guests.

ICED COFFEE (DUNKIN DONUTS)
I have tried to make iced coffee before but it never tasted like my favorite from Dunkin Donuts! I finally realized they were added as much milk as they were coffee, and extra sugar. Often, later in the day, after the coffee in the carafe is not so hot, I make these as a refreshing drink. You can also add a tablespoon or so of flavored creamer, like amaretto, hazelnut, etc. for some variety.

VIETNAMESE ICED COFFEE
Strong coffee with sweetened condensed milk and chilled on ice makes an unbeatable Southeast Asian treat. Even those who only take their coffee black will like this. Serve it on hot summer days or as an evening treat. We learned this in Vietnam, and now drink almost all our espresso this way.

VANILLA ICED COFFEE -- SIMPLE AND EASY
It only takes a minute to make up a tall, cold glass of this refreshing, hot-weather drink. You've probably got all the ingredients on hand. While its best if you thought ahead to make some double-strong coffee, that last mugfull that got cold in the pot will do. ;) (I confess, I can't afford to use real vanilla all the time. The artificial kind works just fine in this for my tastes).

HAZELNUT ICED COFFEE
I make these all the time. I have tried this with different flavors of the liquid non-dairy coffee creamer and haven't found a flavor I didn't like so far. Because the fat will add up fast in this because of the amount of creamer, I opt for the fat free kind, and don't really see a big difference in the flavor. Sometimes I also put 1/4 c of the full fat, and 1/4 of the fat free and mix together. It really just depends on what I have on hand. This is easy to change around to your liking.

Tips:
- Choose the Right Coffee Beans: Select high-quality coffee beans that are medium or dark roasted. These beans will provide a bold and flavorful iced coffee.
- Grind Your Coffee Beans: Freshly ground coffee beans produce the best flavor. Use a burr grinder to achieve a consistent grind size.
- Use Cold Water: Cold water is essential for making iced coffee. Hot water will result in a bitter and less flavorful brew.
- Steep the Coffee: Allow the ground coffee to steep in cold water for at least 12 hours, or overnight. This will allow the coffee to fully extract its flavor.
- Strain the Coffee: After steeping, strain the coffee through a cheesecloth-lined strainer or a fine-mesh sieve to remove the grounds.
- Serve Over Ice: Pour the cold brew coffee over ice cubes in a glass or mug. You can add milk, cream, or sugar to taste.
Conclusion:
With these tips, you can easily make delicious iced coffee at home. Experiment with different coffee beans, brewing methods, and flavorings to create your perfect iced coffee recipe. Enjoy a refreshing and flavorful iced coffee anytime you want!
