I used to work at Jack Astor's and this dip was one of their best selling appetizers. This is great for parties and simple to make, and people won't think it wasn't simple! I'm making it for my Christmas party tomorrow, so I will try to have a picture of it.

2 (6 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 medium onion, minced
1/2 red bell pepper, minced
2 garlic cloves, minced
10 white mushrooms, minced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 (6 ounce) can crabmeat (I used Victoria brand)
cheddar cheese (for topping)
nacho chips (for serving) or toasted pita bread, cut into triangles (for serving)

Steps:

  • In a small pan, saute onion and garlic.
  • Next saute bell pepper, then mushrooms.
  • Let cool.
  • In a bowl soften cream cheese with a spoon.
  • Add cooled vegetables, crab meat, and cheese.
  • Store in container in fridge until ready to serve.
  • SERVING INSTRUCTIONS: Place dip in a oven proof shallow bowl.
  • Spread dip evenly in bowl and top with more shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Warm slightly in microwave.
  • Bake in oven at 350 degrees, until slightly bubbling and the top is starting to turn golden brown.
  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley and parlsey sprig.
  • Place bowl on a serving plate and surround with nacho chips and pita points.

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
6 ounces lump crabmeat, drained
3 green onions, root ends trimmed, dark green ends trimmed, minced
3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream or 3 tablespoons evaporated milk
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese, divided
1 1/2 tablespoons red bell peppers or 1 1/2 tablespoons green bell peppers, diced
2 teaspoons dry white wine
2 teaspoons shrimp soup base (see Notes, below) or 2 teaspoons chicken soup base (see Notes, below)
2 teaspoons diced tomatoes or 2 teaspoons drained salsa
1/2 teaspoon crab boil seasoning (Old Bay)

Steps:

  • Fold together all ingredients, except 1 Tbls. Parmesan.
  • Spread evenly into an oven-proof baking dish.
  • Microwave on 50% power for 4 minutes.
  • Sprinkle top with Parmesan.
  • Transfer dish to the oven and broil until top is slightly browned.
  • Notes: Serve with tri-colored corn tortilla chips. Shrimp base is a thick, paste-like bouillon that can be found in the supermarket next to the bouillon and granules. If you can't find it, use chicken soup base OR 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules.

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 lb jumbo lump crabmeat
6 oz cream cheese, room temperature
3 tablespoons sour cream
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot sauce
2 teaspoons old bay seasoning, plus more for garnish
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
2 tablespoons fresh chives, thinly sliced, for garnish
carrot stick, for serving
celery stick, for serving
cracker, for serving
crostini, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325˚F (160˚C).
