- Serve the jerk chicken with a salad of green leaf lettuce, halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced red onions, shredded carrots and sliced celery.

THE REAL JAMAICAN JERK CHICKEN - NEARLY TOO HOT TO HANDLE!
A classic Jamaican Jerk Chicken recipe, sent to me by a friend in Kingston, Jamaica! You can adjust the "heat" to your own requirements - and don't forget the Rum Punch! Try to use fresh limes wherever possible.....it makes such a difference to the taste. Edited to say: In response to a recent review, please note that this IS a GENUINE jerk recipe from a very good friend who lives in Jamaica - whom I have visited many times! However, this is NOT a "commercial" flavoured jerk seasoning mix. It is very spicy and may not suit those of you who dislike strong spices, such as allspice and nutmeg, which are quite strong! Feel free to adjust these seasonings if you wish - the taste may be more to your liking, if not 100% authentic! Thanks! :-)

Tips:
- Choose the right chicken: For authentic Jamaican jerk chicken, use bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs or drumsticks. These cuts are more flavorful and juicy than boneless, skinless breasts.
- Make your own jerk seasoning: Traditional Jamaican jerk seasoning is a blend of allspice, scotch bonnet peppers, thyme, scallions, and garlic. You can find recipes for jerk seasoning online or in Caribbean cookbooks.
- Marinate the chicken: The longer you marinate the chicken, the more flavorful it will be. Aim for at least 2 hours, but overnight is even better.
- Cook the chicken over indirect heat: This will help to prevent the chicken from drying out. You can cook jerk chicken on a grill, in a smoker, or even in the oven.
- Serve with traditional Jamaican sides: Jerk chicken is traditionally served with rice and peas, steamed vegetables, and fried plantains. You can also serve it with your favorite dipping sauce, such as mango chutney or hot sauce.
Conclusion:
Jamaican jerk chicken is a delicious and flavorful dish that is perfect for any occasion. With its unique blend of spices and herbs, jerk chicken is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a new and exciting recipe, give jerk chicken a try. You won't be disappointed!
