Tips for Making Korean Ground Beef and Rice

  • Use high-quality ground beef. 80/20 ground beef is a good choice because it has enough fat to keep the dish moist and flavorful.
  • Season the beef well. A combination of soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil is a classic Korean flavor combination that works well with ground beef.
  • Don't overcook the beef. Ground beef should be cooked until it is just browned, otherwise it will become tough and dry.
  • Use short-grain rice. Short-grain rice is stickier than long-grain rice, which makes it ideal for Korean ground beef and rice.
  • Rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking. This will help to remove the starch and make the rice less sticky.
  • Cook the rice according to package directions. Once the rice is cooked, let it cool slightly before fluffing it with a fork.

Conclusion

Korean ground beef and rice is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. It is also a versatile dish that can be customized to your liking. For example, you can add vegetables such as carrots, celery, or onions to the ground beef mixture. You can also use different types of sauce, such as gochujang (Korean chili paste) or doenjang (Korean soybean paste). No matter how you make it, Korean ground beef and rice is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
