Time 2h30m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon sugar
4 ounces sour cream
6 ounces homemade mini marshmallows, approximately 3 cups
1 cup clementine orange segments, approximately 6 clementines
1 cup chopped fresh pineapple
1 cup freshly grated coconut
1 cup toasted, chopped pecans
1/2 cup drained maraschino cherries

Steps:

  • Place the cream and sugar into the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment and whip until stiff peaks are formed. Add the sour cream and whisk to combine. Add the marshmallows, orange, pineapple, coconut, pecans and cherries and stir to combine. Transfer to a glass serving bowl, cover and place in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.

Tips:

  • Use fresh fruit. Fresh fruit will give your ambrosia the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh fruit, you can use frozen or canned fruit, but fresh is always best.
  • Don't overcook the fruit. Overcooked fruit will be mushy and bland. Cook the fruit just until it is softened and still holds its shape.
  • Use a variety of fruits. Ambrosia is a great way to use up leftover fruit. You can use any combination of fruits you like, but some popular choices include pineapple, oranges, grapefruit, grapes, and berries.
  • Add some nuts or coconut. Nuts and coconut add a nice crunch and flavor to ambrosia. You can use any type of nuts you like, but almonds, walnuts, and pecans are all good choices. You can also use shredded coconut or flaked coconut.
  • Make it ahead of time. Ambrosia is a great make-ahead dish. You can make it up to 24 hours in advance and store it in the refrigerator. This makes it a great option for potlucks or parties.

Conclusion:

Ambrosia is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its combination of fresh fruit, marshmallows, and whipped cream, ambrosia is a light and refreshing dessert that is perfect for any occasion. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, give ambrosia a try!
