LEMON VERBENA MINT DETOX TEA

Lemon Verbena Mint Detox Tea image

This is a simple detox tea. Lemon verbena is delicious! I came across it while I was picking up my summer herb plants last spring. I had never heard of it before but learned it is good for cooking and tea. Little did I know this little herb has some amazing detox and medicinal benefits. I love lemon but hate what the acid does to my teeth. With lemon verbena you get the flavor of lemon without the acid.

LEMON VERBENA AND MINT TEA - FRENCH VERVEINE AND MINT TISANE

Lemon Verbena and Mint Tea - French Verveine and Mint Tisane image

This is my elderly French neighbour's recipe for a refreshing and popular French tisane, she drinks it almost daily as a digestif, using dried lemon verbena and mint leaves in the winter. Tisanes are popular in France, and most salons de thé serve all manner of wonderful natural tisanes and teas, with exotic herbs and spices, as well as fruit and berries. Nearly all French gardens have Lemon Verbena growing, it also grows wild on the hedgerows this far South in France, and it is added to all manner of things in the kitchen - from soups to sauces, and of course it makes a refreshing and easy drink. This can be served warm or chilled with ice. Garnish with fresh lemon verbena leaves.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh and organic ingredients: Using fresh and organic herbs and lemons will provide the best flavor and aroma to your tea.
  • Use hot water: The ideal water temperature for brewing lemon mint tea is between 195°F and 205°F (90°C to 96°C). This temperature allows the flavors and essential oils of the herbs and lemon to infuse into the water without becoming bitter.
  • Steep for the right amount of time: The steeping time for lemon mint tea can vary depending on your desired strength. Generally, steeping for 5-10 minutes is a good starting point. Longer steeping times will result in a stronger flavor.
  • Add honey or sweetener to taste: If you prefer a sweeter tea, you can add honey, agave nectar, or another natural sweetener to taste. Be sure to stir well to dissolve the sweetener completely.
  • Serve hot or cold: Lemon mint tea can be enjoyed hot or cold. If you prefer cold tea, simply let it cool to room temperature and then chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

Lemon mint tea is a refreshing and flavorful beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold. With its combination of bright citrus flavor and cooling mint, it's a perfect choice for any time of day. Whether you're looking for a soothing drink to relax with or a healthy way to boost your energy, lemon mint tea is a great option. So next time you're looking for a refreshing and flavorful beverage, give lemon mint tea a try. You won't be disappointed!
