- In the same pan over low heat, warm 1/2 cup oil (or 2 Tbs. butter), add garlic and saute until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes. Optional - add 2 Tbs flour, cook 1-2 mins, add 1 cup of wine (and or pasta water) and cook until reduced by half. Cont. with rest of directions.
- Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan and lemon zest and juice. Season with salt & pepper.
- Add cooked pasta to sauce pan and toss. Add pasta water if pasta seems dry.
- Add bread crumbs, parsley, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper to taste. Top with parmesan.
Tips:
- Use high-quality Parmesan cheese. Freshly grated Parmesan cheese will provide the best flavor.
- Don't overcook the pasta. Cook it al dente, according to the package directions.
- Use fresh lemon juice. Bottled lemon juice can be used, but fresh lemon juice will provide a brighter flavor.
- Add the lemon juice and Parmesan cheese to the pasta while it is still hot. This will help the cheese melt and the flavors to blend.
- Garnish the pasta with fresh parsley or basil before serving.

For example, you can add cooked chicken or shrimp, or you can use different types of cheese, such as Asiago or Romano.
