LENTIL TOMATO SOUP

Lentil Tomato Soup image

I'm a firm believer in eating foods that symbolize good luck and expanding fortune at the beginning of the year. Usually I stick with my black-eyed peas salad. But I've always been curious about how people in other countries usher in the New Year. Lentils and raisins are present on Italian tables because they resemble coins and swell when cooked. They're usually accompanied by pork, a symbol of prosperity and abundance. This is an easy, robust vegetarian soup that tastes almost meaty. The rosemary in the bouquet garni contributes a savory, earthy flavor.

I usually hate lentils, but they are delicious in this soup! I probably use twice the amount of adobo seasoning that I listed, but I doubt that many other people can stomach that much garlic! LENTIL TOMATO SOUP

Lentil Tomato Soup image

Lentil Tomato Soup is delicious and filling and very easy to make. Green vegetables make this soup a powerhouse of nutrition. Be sure not to overcook the lentils, as they can get rather mushy. After you stir in the tomatoes, let the soup simmer for 20 minutes if you have time in order to allow the flavors to blend a little more. And feel free to double the recipe and keep some in the fridge for a day or two, as the soup will get even better over this time.

General Instructions and Concluding Remarks

General Instructions

When making the lentil-tomato soup, there are a few pieces of equipment that are essential. You will need a large pot, a blender, and a cutting board. These items will allow you to easily make the soup and puree it until it is smooth. Additionally, you will need a wooden spoon and measuring cups. These items are used to help you make sure that you are adding the correct amount of ingredients and to help you easily move the soup from the pot to the blender.

Also, to make sure your lentil-tomato soup comes together correctly, be sure to cook the lentils until they are soft. Lentils can take a while to cook, so be patient and do not be tempted to increase the heat. You also need to be sure that you are using the right type of lentils. Brown or green lentils work best for this recipe. Red lentils cook too quickly to work in this soup.

Here are some additional tips for making lentil-tomato soup that are worth keeping in mind.

  • Use a variety of lentils. This will give your lentil-tomato soup a unique taste and texture. You can use brown, green, or a combination of the two. It is a great way to add color and variety to your lentil-tomato soup.
  • Add some spice to your lentil-tomato soup. This is a great way to give your lentil-tomato soup a kick. You can add cayenne pepper, chili powder, or paprika. You can also add some cumin or coriander for a more exotic flavor. You can also add hot peppers like serranos or jalapeños.
  • Top your lentil-tomato soup with your favorite toppings. This is a great way to add some more flavor and excitement to your lentil-tomato soup. You can add sour cream, yogurt, cheese, or croutons. You can also add some fresh herbs, such as basil, oregano, or cilantro.
General Instructions

When making lentil-tomato soup, there are a few things to keep in the back of your head.

  • First, lentil-tomato soup can be made ahead of time. This means that you can make a big batch of the soup and then freeze it for later. This way, you will always have a healthy and delicious meal on hand. Just be sure to let the soup thaw completely before you eat it.
  • Second, lentil-tomato soup is a great way to use up leftover vegetables. If you have some leftover carrots, celery, or potatoes, you can add those to your soup. This is a great way to avoid food waste and make a delicious and healthy meal at the same time.
  • Lastly, lentil-tomato
