Categories     Chicken

Time 8h40m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed and undiluted
3 tablespoons dark sesame oil
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 whole chicken (cut into pieces)
salt

Steps:

  • In a bowl stir together the teriyaki sauce, orange juice concentrate, sesame oil, garlic and black pepper until well combined.
  • Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl, then pour HALF the marinade over the chicken; toss with clean hands to coat, reserve the other half marinade for basting the chicken.
  • Cover and refrigerate the chicken for 8 hours.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade and discrd marinade.
  • Set oven to 400 degrees.
  • Place the chicken pieces on a large foil-lined baking sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray, skin-side up.
  • Sprinkle lightly with salt.
  • Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until the chicken is done.
  • Brush with the reserved marinade 5 minutes before end of cooking.

Tips:

  • Use a high-quality teriyaki sauce for the best flavor. Look for a sauce that is made with real soy sauce, mirin, and sake.
  • If you don't have teriyaki sauce, you can make your own by combining soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, and sake in a saucepan and heating it over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • To get the crispiest chicken, make sure to pat it dry with paper towels before baking it. This will help the skin to crisp up.
  • Don't overcrowd the chicken in the baking pan. If the chicken is too crowded, it will not cook evenly.
  • Bake the chicken until it is cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should be 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Conclusion:

Lilly's Teriyaki Baked Chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make recipe that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The chicken is marinated in a flavorful teriyaki sauce and then baked until it is cooked through. The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Serve the chicken with rice and vegetables for a complete meal.
