Time 30m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 chicken breasts, skinless and boneless
3 teaspoons soy sauce
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons honey
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon catsup

Steps:

  • Set oven to'Broil'.
  • Mix soy sauce, onion, garlic, honey ginger and catsup in a small bowl.
  • If necessary, run your honey jar under warm water before measuring out, to make mixing easier.
  • Trim fat from chicken breasts, rinse and pat dry.
  • Cover a metal broiling pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil (makes cleanup easier), and place the chicken breasts inside.
  • Brush top side of the chicken with half of the honey mixture.
  • Make sure and get the edges of the meat to ensure the juices are sealed in!
  • Broil chicken for 5 minutes, remove, and turn over.
  • Brush on remaining honey mixture and return to oven for another 5-10 minutes more (until juices run clear).

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken: For best results, use boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs. These cuts of chicken are lean and cook quickly, making them ideal for this recipe.
  • Don't overcrowd the chicken in the pan: If you're cooking a lot of chicken, cook it in batches to prevent it from steaming instead of browning.
  • Use a nonstick skillet: A nonstick skillet will help prevent the chicken from sticking and burning.
  • Cook the chicken over medium heat: This will help it cook evenly without burning.
  • Don't overcook the chicken: Overcooked chicken is dry and tough. Cook it just until it is cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side.
  • Make the glaze while the chicken is cooking: This will save you time and effort.
  • Use a pastry brush to glaze the chicken: This will help you evenly coat the chicken with the glaze.
  • Broil the chicken for a few minutes at the end of cooking: This will help caramelize the glaze and give the chicken a delicious crispy crust.

Conclusion:

This low-fat honey-glazed chicken is a delicious and healthy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Serve it with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice.
