MACARONI AND CHEESE DELUXE "HOUSE" RECIPE RECIPE

Macaroni and Cheese Deluxe

Provided by mm_food4me

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (8-ounce) package elbow macaroni, cooked
2 cups cream-style cottage cheese
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 (8-ounce) carton sour cream
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 teaspoon salt
Paprika

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 2-quart casserole, or baking dish. Cook macaroni following package directions. Drain. Combine cottage cheese, cheese, sour cream, egg and salt. Fold in macaroni. Spoon into casserole. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the macaroni and cheese will taste. Use a good quality cheddar cheese, fresh milk, and real butter.
  • Cook the macaroni al dente: This means cooking it until it is just tender, but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked macaroni will become mushy and ruin the dish.
  • Make a roux: A roux is a mixture of butter and flour that is used to thicken the cheese sauce. It helps to create a smooth and creamy sauce.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: Don't just use one type of cheese in your macaroni and cheese. Try using a combination of cheeses, such as cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, and Gruyère. This will create a more complex flavor.
  • Add-ins: Feel free to add your favorite ingredients to your macaroni and cheese. Some popular add-ins include bacon, ham, chicken, vegetables, and spices.

Conclusion:

Macaroni and cheese is a classic dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a versatile dish that can be customized to your own taste. Whether you like it simple or loaded with add-ins, there is a macaroni and cheese recipe out there for everyone. So next time you are looking for a comforting and delicious meal, give macaroni and cheese a try. You won't be disappointed!
