Time 2h15m

Yield 1 8x8 pan, 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 (1 tablespoon) packages unflavored gelatin
1 (6 ounce) package Jello gelatin
2 1/2 cups water

Steps:

  • Dissolve unflavoured gelatin in one cup of cold water. Set aside.
  • In saucepan bring one cup of water to a boil and add Jello. Bring back to a boil and then remove from heat.
  • Add gelatin mixture to hot Jello mixture. Stir and add 1/2 cup cold water.
  • Pour into a greased pan, cover with plastic wrap, and set aside in fridge until solid.
  • Cut into squares or use cookie cutters to make interesting shapes.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Note: each season it's fun to make these different colours and shapes. In our family we make green and red Jello Fingers at Christmas, at Valentine's Day red heart-shaped ones, St. Patrick's Day green clovers, Halloween orange circles (you can make into jack-o-lanterns) - it's fun for the kids and the Mom and Dad!
  • (This recipe is ideal for an 8x8 pan, but for really little kids it's great if you've got a 9x13 as it makes them thinner.).

Categories     Gelatin

Time 3h10m

Yield 2-3 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (3 ounce) box any flavor Jello gelatin
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 (8 ounce) container of frozen Cool Whip

Steps:

  • Stir boiling water into JELL-O in a bowl until dissolved.
  • Add 2/3 of frozen COOL WHIP to same bowl one spoonful at a time, whisking until it is melted and blended.
  • Pour into small clear drinking glasses.
  • Refrigerate at least 3 hours, until set.
  • Top layered dessert with remaining whipped topping and ENJOY!

Tips:

  • Choose the right gelatin. Unflavored gelatin is the most versatile and can be used in both sweet and savory dishes. Flavored gelatin is a good option for desserts, but it can also be used in savory dishes to add a pop of flavor.
  • Bloom the gelatin properly. Blooming the gelatin means sprinkling it over cold water and letting it sit for a few minutes. This allows the gelatin to absorb the water and become hydrated. Blooming the gelatin properly will help to prevent it from clumping when you add it to your recipe.
  • Use fresh fruit. Fresh fruit is the best choice for Magic Finger Jello. Frozen fruit can be used, but it will not have the same flavor and texture as fresh fruit.
  • Don't overmix the gelatin. Overmixing the gelatin will cause it to become tough and rubbery. Mix the gelatin just until it is combined with the other ingredients.
  • Chill the gelatin properly. Magic Finger Jello needs to be chilled for at least 4 hours before serving. This will give the gelatin time to set and firm up.

Conclusion:

Magic Finger Jello is a classic dessert that is easy to make and always a hit with a crowd. With its layers of colorful gelatin, fruit, and whipped cream, Magic Finger Jello is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Whether you are making it for a special occasion or just because, Magic Finger Jello is sure to be a hit.
