WASABI & HONEY GLAZED SALMON RECIPE - (5/5)

Wasabi & Honey Glazed Salmon Recipe - (5/5) image

Provided by Foodiewife

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 tablespoons mirin (or vermouth)
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon finely chopped, peeled ginger root
2 teaspoons wasabi paste
Nonstick vegetable spray oil
2 salmon fillets (4 to 6 ounces each)

Steps:

  • SAUCE: In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stir together mirin, vinegar, soy sauce, honey, ginger and wasabi to taste. (Add the wasabi incrementally, tasting as you go.) Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until glaze thickens slightly, about 5 minutes (mine took closer to 10 minutes). Remove from the heat. My adaption to this recipe is that I prefer to sear and roast salmon in an oven-proof skillet. Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly coat an oven-proof skillet with olive oil and heat on medium-high. Season the salmon with a little kosher salt & fresh cracked pepper. When the oil begins to shimmer, and just starts to smoke, add the salmon, skin side up. Sear, without moving it around for 3 to 4 minutes. Turn the salmon over, skin side down. Brush some of the glaze onto the salmon and then place the skillet of salmon into the oven for about 4 minutes. Spoon the remainder of the sauce over the salmon and serve hot.

MANGO MUSTARD SALMON

Mango Mustard Salmon image

Provided by Robert Irvine : Food Network

Categories     main-dish

Time 25m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 fresh mango, peeled and sliced away from the pit
2 teaspoons stone ground mustard
4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
1 cup panko bread crumbs
2 tablespoons freshly minced flat-leaf parsley

Steps:

  • Puree mango and mustard in a blender and transfer mixture to a shallow container such as a pie plate. Season salmon with salt and black pepper. Heat grapeseed oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Dip salmon in mango/mustard mixture and coat with bread crumbs. When the oil begins to shimmer, saute salmon leaving undisturbed for the first 4 minutes or so to allow the seasonings to integrate into the surface of the fish and to allow the caramelization process to begin to prevent "crusting off" of the coating. When you see the edges begin to turn golden, flip the fillets over and cook the other side in the same way. Remove from heat and set aside to carryover cook, or finish in a preheated 325 degree F oven, if necessary.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with parsley.

WW HONEY-GLAZED SALMON WITH WASABI - 4 POINTS

Ww Honey-Glazed Salmon With Wasabi - 4 Points image

This is out of the "Take-out-tonight" WW cookbook. It says you can use salmon steaks with this dish. Great served with a refreshing cucumber salad. It's easy to prepare, requires virtually no chopping and is ready in less than 20 minutes. Zaar would not accept Mirin (1st ingredient) so posted it in parentheses.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your dish.
  • Don't overcook the salmon. Salmon is a delicate fish, so it's important to cook it until it is just cooked through. Overcooked salmon will be dry and tough.
  • Make sure the sauce is well-blended. A smooth, well-blended sauce will help to evenly coat the salmon and add flavor.
  • Serve the salmon immediately. Salmon is best served immediately after it is cooked, when it is still hot and flaky.

Conclusion:

Mango Wasabi Honey Mustard Salmon is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors is sure to please everyone at the table. This dish is also a great way to get your daily dose of omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for heart health.
