Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup white sugar
½ cup water
6 tablespoons light corn syrup
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 cup pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¾ cup crumbled, cooked maple bacon
1 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Bring sugar, water, corn syrup, and maple syrup to a boil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Heat to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a rigid ball.
  • Stir pecans and vanilla into syrup mixture until mixture begins to turn brown; add bacon. Cook until bacon mixture turns light brown, 1 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir baking soda into bacon mixture. Pour brittle out onto a sheet of parchment paper set on a heat-proof surface and cool brittle to room temperature before breaking into pieces, at least 30 minutes.

MAPLE-PECAN BACON

Always looking for recipes for using the abundance of pecans in our yard.

Categories     Meat Breakfast

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 3

12 slice thick cut bacon
1/3 c maple syrup, plus extra for drizzling
1 c pecans, finely chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Line a rimmed-baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack inside. Dredge the bacon in the maple syrup and lay out on the wire rack.
  • 2. Press finely chopped pecans into surface. Bake at 400-degrees for 25-30 minutes. Drizzle a small amount of additional maple syrup over the top and let cool for 5 minutes.

Tips:

  • For crispy bacon, cook it over medium heat in a single layer. Don't overcrowd the pan, or the bacon will steam instead of fry.
  • To make the maple pecan glaze, use real maple syrup, not pancake syrup. Pancake syrup is made with corn syrup and artificial flavors, and it won't give you the same rich, maple flavor.
  • If you don't have a meat thermometer, you can check the bacon's doneness by pressing on it with your finger. If it feels firm, it's done. If it feels soft, it needs to cook longer.
  • Serve the maple pecan bacon immediately, while it's still warm and crispy. It can also be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Maple pecan bacon is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that's perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's also a great way to use up leftover bacon. With its sweet and salty flavor, maple pecan bacon is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. Whether you're cooking it for yourself or for a crowd, this recipe is sure to please.
