2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup white sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup flaked coconut
1 (4 ounce) jar maraschino cherries
1 teaspoon butter
1 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Mix together flour, white sugar and butter or margarine. Mix until crumbly. Press into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Beat eggs, sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla. Drain and chop cherries, reserving liquid. Stir chopped cherries, nuts, and coconut into egg mixture. Pour on top of crust.
  • Bake 25 min. Cool.

2 1/4 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1 c softened butter
2 eggs
1 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
12 oz maraschino cherries, drained (save the juice) and chopped
1/2 c chopped walnuts (optional)
1 Tbsp soft butter for frosting
1 c powdered sugar for frosting

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly. Press into 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
  • 2. Blend eggs, brown sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla. Stir in chopped cherries and nuts. Put on top of crust. Bake 25 minutes. Let cool.
  • 3. Frosting: Combine the 1 tablespoon soft butter 1 cup powdered sugar Add the saved cherry juice a little at a time until you get the right consistency to drizzle the frosting over the cooled bars.

1 cup butter, at room temperature
½ cup white sugar
3 large eggs
1 ½ cups light brown sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder

½ cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
FILLING:
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup quartered maraschino cherries
1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine flour and confectioners' sugar; cut in butter until crumbly. Press into a lightly greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. cup(s) 1 cup butter
- 3 eggs
