1 bottle (750 milliliters)malbec or other dry red wine
2 cups apple cider or juice
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup agave nectar
1/4 cup tequila (preferably Exotico Reposado)
1/4 cup orange liqueur
1/4 cup orange juice
1 large navel orange, sliced
Optional: Orange slices, sea salt, sugar and orange zest

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, combine peppercorns, allspice, cloves and cinnamon sticks over medium heat until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add wine, cider, brown sugar, agave, tequila, orange liqueur, orange juice and orange slices. Bring just to a simmer (do not boil).
