40 Italian-style frozen meatballs

1 (32-ounce) bag frozen meatballs (I used Great Value brand, Fully Cooked, Italian Style)
1 (24-ounce) can/jar marinara or spaghetti sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup Italian blend cheese, shredded
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
1 loaf fresh French or Italian bread, sliced (I used French twin loaves from Walmart Deli)
1/2 stick (1/4-cup) salted butter, melted
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, to taste
1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
Dash of salt, optional
2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, grated, optional

  • Add the frozen meatballs and the sauce to a pot over medium heat. When it starts to bubble, reduce heat to medium-low, cover pot (with lid tilted), and simmer until heated through, about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Preheat oven to 375° F.
