GRILLED FRENCH BREAD ROLLS

Yield Makes 18

Number Of Ingredients 4

3/4 cup olive oil
6 garlic cloves, flattened
18 large French bread rolls
Freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in heavy medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add garlic and cook until light brown, about 4 minutes. Discard garlic.
  • Prepare barbecue (high heat). Split rolls in half horizontally. Brush cut surface with garlic oil. Sprinkle generously with pepper. Grill rolls, oiled side down, until golden brown. Serve hot or at room temperature.

Tips:

  • To make the perfect bread rolls, use active dry yeast and warm water. The ideal water temperature for activating yeast is between 105°F and 115°F (40°C and 46°C). If the water is too hot, it will kill the yeast, and if it is too cold, the yeast will not activate properly.
  • Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. This will help to develop the gluten in the flour, which will give the bread rolls their chewy texture.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will give the yeast time to ferment the dough and produce carbon dioxide gas, which will create the air pockets in the bread rolls.
  • Bake the bread rolls in a preheated oven until they are golden brown. This will give them a crispy crust and a fluffy interior.
  • Serve the bread rolls warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Bread rolls are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. They are also a great way to use up leftover dough. With a little practice, you can easily make perfect bread rolls at home. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy side dish, give these recipes a try.
