MOMS OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES

Moms Oatmeal Raisin Cookies image

This is a great cookie that my Mother made and our family has been making them ever since. Mom was a great cook and I loved to watch her make her home made bread and cookies. There was three of us girls that used to help her with the canning and baking, and we have a lot of great memories with our Mother.

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 c each - peanut butter, white sugar, packed brown sugar, butter flavored crisco
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
2 c flour
sugar for rolling cookies

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. In a large bowl, cream the sugars, peanut butter and C Crisco until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time and blend thoroughly after each addition. Beat in the vanilla.
  • 2. Sift flour, soda and salt together, and add to the peanut butter mixture. Mix well. Using my cookie scoop ( about 1 tablespoon size ) roll into balls and then roll in sugar - place on baking sheet and bake for 12 - 15 minutes. Mine took 12 minutes.
  • 3. Remove from sheet to cooling racks. Enjoy! They are wonderful!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the cookies will be. Use real butter, not margarine, and use good quality chocolate chips.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make the cookies tough. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies at the right temperature: The temperature of the oven will affect the texture of the cookies. Bake the cookies at the temperature specified in the recipe.
  • Don't overbake the cookies: Overbaking the cookies will make them dry and crumbly. Bake the cookies just until they are set.

Conclusion:
