Tips:
- For the bread: Use a sturdy bread that can hold up to the fillings. A classic Cuban bread is ideal, but you can also use a French baguette or a hoagie roll.
- For the meat: Use thinly sliced ham, roast pork, and Swiss cheese. You can also add other meats, such as salami or mortadella.
- For the pickles: Use thinly sliced dill pickles or sweet pickles.
- For the mustard: Use a yellow mustard or a spicy brown mustard.
- For the butter: Use unsalted butter so that you can control the amount of salt in the sandwich.
- Be generous with the fillings: A good Cuban sandwich is packed with meat, cheese, and pickles.
- Press the sandwich before serving: This will help to hold all of the fillings in place.
Conclusion:
The Cuban sandwich is a delicious and iconic sandwich that is perfect for a quick and easy lunch or dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover ham, roast pork, and Swiss cheese. With its combination of savory meats, tangy pickles, and creamy mustard, the Cuban sandwich is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
