  • Mix together mulberries, rhubarb, sugar, and flour.
  • Pour into unbaked 9 inch pie shell. Dot filling with butter or margarine, and add top crust.

Tips:

  • Choose the right mulberries: Use ripe, plump mulberries that are free of blemishes. Avoid mulberries that are too soft or mushy, as they will not hold their shape in the pie.
  • Prepare the mulberries: Before using, rinse the mulberries thoroughly and remove the stems. Cut larger mulberries in half or quarters to ensure even cooking.
  • Use a deep-dish pie plate: This will help to prevent the juices from overflowing during baking.
  • Don't overfill the pie: Leave about 1 inch of space at the top of the pie crust to allow for expansion during baking.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This usually takes about 45-50 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center of the pie; if it comes out clean, the pie is done.
  • Let the pie cool slightly before serving: This will allow the filling to set and prevent it from running out of the pie when you cut it.
