THE BEST SOUTHERN GREEN BEANS
These are FANTASTIC! This recipe was revised from an old family favorite! My southern roots come through on this one! Either way the beans end up melting in your mouth and the cooked bacon adds more flavor! REALLY tasty! Good for cookouts or to compliment any meal!

OLD SOUTH GREEN BEANS AND POTATOES
An old southern recipe from Mississippi for green beans and potatoes. You can delete the bacon or ham hock and they still taste good. Green beans adds a special taste to potatoes and I love it.

Steps:
- In pot cover green beans with water and boil till tender with potatoes and bacon (or ham hock); drain.
- Add your favorite seasoning (I like butter, salt, and pepper).
- Remember ham hocks take a little longer than green beans, so if you use a ham hock, boil it first till tender then add the rest and cook. I personally never use ham hock due to fat content--I usually just use the bacon strips. I only listed it here as it was in the old south recipe.

Tips:
- Use fresh or frozen green beans: Fresh green beans are best, but frozen green beans can also be used. If using frozen green beans, thaw them before cooking.
- Don't overcook the green beans: Green beans should be cooked until they are tender-crisp, but not mushy. Overcooked green beans will lose their flavor and texture.
- Use a variety of seasonings: Mississippi green beans are typically seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, and onion. However, you can also add other seasonings, such as cayenne pepper, paprika, or cumin.
- Serve Mississippi green beans immediately: Mississippi green beans are best served immediately after they are cooked. They can be served as a side dish or as a main course.
Conclusion:
Mississippi green beans are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish. They are perfect for any occasion, from weeknight dinners to holiday feasts. With their simple ingredients and bold flavors, Mississippi green beans are sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.
