DAD'S SIMPLE STEAK MARINADE

Dad's Simple Steak Marinade image

This recipe is one my father taught me. It is the simplest homemade marinade! Just 5 common ingredients! When used overnight, the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic make flank, skirt and sirloin steaks flavorful and, most importantly, tender for the grill! For more flavor, add Kosher salt and cracked black pepper to your steak while it cooks. Red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar may be substituted for the red wine.

MY OWN STEAK MARINADE

My Own Steak Marinade image

Several years ago I experimented with making steak marinades. I have a few recipes I came up with that seem to be old time favorites! We love steak on the grill, but ever since I made my marinade my husband prefers his steak made this way or not at all! Besides Marinades. I also luv to Rub my steaks. then place them in a marinade sauce before grilling! OH and one last thing -- STEAK Sauce -- what's that -- haha! These steaks require no steak sauce or at least that is what my husband says! NOTE -- the cook time is Marinade time.

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/2 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup Italian salad dressing
1 tablespoon minced dried onion
1 teaspoon minced dried garlic
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons red hot sauce
2 teaspoons beef base
pepper
Lawry's seasoning salt

Steps:

  • Mix above ingredients well.
  • Pour over meat and marinade anywhere from 2 hours - to even 12 hours.
  • I really like this marinade over Sirloins and Filets.
  • Any Marinade that is left over can be stored in fridge for next time.
  • I like to make a double batch and always have the marinade on hand.
  • After the steaks have marinated, Place steaks on grill - you can baste the steaks with the marinade while they cook - but DO NOT - re-use - the used marinade.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use a flank steak or skirt steak. These cuts of meat are relatively thin and tender, and they marinate quickly.
  • Be sure to score the steak before marinating it. This will help the marinade penetrate the meat more deeply.
  • Don't marinate the steak for too long. A few hours is all that's needed. If you marinate the steak for too long, the acids in the marinade can start to break down the proteins in the meat, making it tough.
  • When you're ready to cook the steak, be sure to bring it to room temperature before grilling or pan-frying it. This will help the steak cook evenly.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meat, making it more flavorful.

Conclusion:

Marinating steak is a great way to add flavor and tenderness to the meat. By following the tips above, you can create a delicious steak marinade that will make your next meal a hit. So next time you're looking for a new way to cook steak, give marinating a try. You won't be disappointed.
