No Time!! Baked Pasta image

I'm a little addicted to baked pasta at the moment, and tonight I really wanted some but didn't have the time to wait for it to bake the usual hour or so. So...I came up with this!

Time 35m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 1/2 cups whole wheat pasta (I like rotini, it holds sauce well!)
2 cups fat free pasta sauce
1/2 lb ground turkey
1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
1 cup frozen spinach
1 garlic clove
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
3/4 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese (divided)
garlic powder (to taste)
basil (to taste)
oregano (to taste)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Cook pasta according to package instructions. Set aside.
  • Meanwhile, in a small pan brown ground turkey over med-high heat. Remove from heat and add spinach, herbs, and cottage cheese.
  • Combine pasta, meat mixture, 1/4 c mozzarella, and sauce in a 2 quart casserole dish. Stir well to combine.
  • Microwave on high for 4-5 minutes, or until mixture is heated through.
  • Top with remaining cheese and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and casserole is nice and hot.

EASY NO BOIL PASTA BAKE

Easy No Boil Pasta Bake image

Campbell's used to make a jarred pasta bake sauce that I loved when my kids were little and time was short! When it was discontinued I discovered that the same recipe could be used with any jarred pasta sauce. My oldest son, who is away at college, asked me for some easy recipes that he can make with minimal mess and time and this recipe popped into my head... I thought I'd post it since I couldn't find any others like it on Zaar.

Time 50m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (16 ounce) box pasta (Rigatoni, Penne, Rotini or Ziti)
1 (24 ounce) jar tomato sauce
1 full jar water (24 ounces)
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • PREHEAT oven to 425 degrees.
  • COMBINE uncooked pasta, 1 jar of Sauce and 1 jar of water in a 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Cover with aluminum foil.
  • BAKE 30 minutes. Uncover and stir well.
  • TOP with cheese. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese melts and pasta is tender.
  • Optional: You can add garlic powder and/or italian seasoning along with the pasta/sauce/water mixture and sprinkle grated parmesan on top of the mozzarella for great flavor and easier browning.
  • Optional: You can add small frozen meatballs or browned ground beef (if you don't mind dirtying a pan) along with the pasta/sauce/water mixture for some added protein.

Tips:

  • Prep Your Ingredients: Before you start cooking, measure and chop all your ingredients. This will save you time and help you stay organized.
  • Use a Large Baking Dish: This will ensure that your pasta has enough room to cook evenly.
  • Don't Overcook the Pasta: Cook the pasta al dente, or slightly firm to the bite. This will prevent it from becoming mushy in the oven.
  • Use a Hearty Sauce: A thick, flavorful sauce will help to keep the pasta moist and prevent it from drying out in the oven.
  • Add Plenty of Cheese: Cheese is a classic pasta topping that adds flavor and richness. Use a combination of different cheeses for a more complex flavor.
  • Don't Forget the Herbs and Spices: Herbs and spices can help to brighten the flavors of your pasta dish. Add them to the sauce or sprinkle them on top of the pasta before baking.
  • Bake Until Golden Brown: Bake the pasta until the top is golden brown and bubbly. This will give it a delicious crust and help to keep it warm.

Conclusion:

No-time baked pasta is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of prep work, you can have a delicious and satisfying pasta dish on the table in no time. So next time you're short on time, give no-time baked pasta a try. You won't be disappointed!
