8 white or wheat bread slices
4 tablespoons Nutella
1/4 cup milk
1 large egg ((or 2 medium eggs))
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter
Maple syrup for serving (optional)

Steps:

  • Trim the crusts off the bread. With a rolling pin, roll each slice of bread until flattened.
  • Spread each slice of bread with a layer of Nutella (about 1/2 tablespoon per slice), and tightly roll up the bread slices.
  • In a small shallow bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, sugar and vanilla. Set aside.
  • In a separate small shallow bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
  • In a large nonstick saute pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Dip each Nutella French Toast roll-up in the milk and egg mixture. Place the roll-ups in the pan and cook for about 2 minutes, turning them as needed until they are golden brown and slightly crisp on all sides. Repeat until all the roll-ups are sauteed.
  • Immediately after removing the roll-ups from the saute pan, roll them through the cinnamon-sugar mixture until all sides are coated. Serve them warm with some maple syrup on the side.

3 eggs, at room temperature
1 pinch salt
½ cup white sugar
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 ¼ cups chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella®)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a jellyroll pan with parchment paper.
  • Beat eggs in a bowl with an electric mixer. Add salt and continue beating until eggs are light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, and beat for an additional 5 minutes. Stir in oil and vanilla extract.
  • Mix flour and baking powder together. Sift into the egg mixture a little at a time, folding in with a spatula. Spread batter onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until cake is lightly browned, 10 to 12 minutes.

1/2 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1/2 cup half-and-half cream (110° to 115°)

2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tablespoons Nutella
1 tablespoon hazelnut flavoring syrup
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
3-3/4 to 4-1/4 cups bread flour
FILLING:
1 cup Nutella
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon hazelnut flavoring syrup
1/2 teaspoon instant espresso powder
GLAZE:
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons butter, softened
2 teaspoons buttermilk
2 teaspoons hazelnut flavoring syrup

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add cream, milk, sugar, butter, Nutella, hazelnut syrup, salt, espresso powder and 2 cups flour; beat on medium speed until smooth.   • To prepare the Nutella roll , break the eggs into a bowl. Add the vanilla extract 1 and start mixing with an electric beater 2 . When the mixture is frothy, add the sugar a little at a time 3 . It's important to maintain the frothiness.
  • Carry on beating until the eggs are light and fluffy 4 . Turn off the beater and sift the flour directly into the egg mixture 5 . Now blend the mixture very gently by making rotating movements with the spatula working from the bottom up 6
