My daughter loves when I make this stuffed French toast. You could add some sliced fruit to the sandwich if you'd like; try bananas or strawberries. Dust with powered sugar and serve with pancake syrup.

Time 25m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

Eight 1-inch-thick slices challah or brioche
1/4 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread, such as Nutella®
2 ripe bananas, sliced, plus more for serving
3/4 cup heavy cream
4 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Butter, for frying
Pure maple syrup, for serving

Steps:

  • Using a sharp paring knife, cut a 3-inch-wide slit into one side of each bread slice, cutting about three-quarters of the way through to make a pocket.
  • Spread 1/2 tablespoon of the chocolate-hazelnut spread inside each pocket and then layer in 3 to 4 banana slices.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough butter to liberally coat the bottom. Heat until hot, but not smoking.
  • Meanwhile, whisk together the cream, eggs, sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Soak each stuffed bread slice into the custard and, working in batches, fry in a single layer until the custard is fully cooked, about 3 minutes per side.
  • Top the French toast with additional banana slices and serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup.

Tips:

- Use thick slices of bread for a more substantial French toast. - For a richer flavor, use a combination of Nutella and cream cheese. - Add a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar to the Nutella mixture for a sweet and spicy flavor. - If you don't have a griddle, you can cook the French toast in a large skillet over medium heat. - Serve the French toast with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or syrup.

Conclusion:

Nutella-stuffed French toast is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. With its combination of sweet Nutella, fluffy bread, and crispy exterior, this dish is sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a special way to start your day, give Nutella-stuffed French toast a try.
