ORANGE PECAN WAFFLES

Orange Pecan Waffles image

Orange flavored waffles. I found this recipe in a Round Waffle Bakers leaflet. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting this for safe keeping. This recipe did not give serving size or cook time. When I made this recipe I used Splenda in place of the sugar, the butter, I only used the grated zest of one orange, I also added 1 scoop of protein powder. I thought these were a bit heavy, so is the batter and when I scooped out the batter due to it being so thick I had to spread it. When I made these waffles I got 6 square waffles. Overall I thought these had great flavor.

ORANGE CINNAMON ROLL WAFFLES - DEE DEE'S

Orange Cinnamon Roll Waffles - Dee Dee's image

These waffles are just oozing with creamy sweetness with a nice pleasant hint of orange. If you love cinnamon rolls, I'm positive you will love these waffles. I found a wonderful recipe for Cinnamon Roll Waffles, tweaked it a little to add the orange flavor that we like and came up with this recipe. Adapted from Recipe Girl.

Categories     Waffles

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 20

WAFFLES:
1 3/4 c all purpose flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 Tbsp grated orange peel
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 large eggs
2 c buttermilk
1/4 c canola oil
1 tsp orange extract
CINNAMON TOPPING
1/2 c butter, melted
3/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 Tbsp ground cinnamon
CREAM CHEESE TOPPING
4 Tbsp butter, room temperature
2 oz cream cheese, room temperature
3/4 c powdered sugar
1/2 tsp orange extract

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat Waffle Iron. NOTE: The waffle iron I used is a Krups Belgian Waffle Iron. This recipe will make a lot more than 8 with a smaller waffle iron.
  • 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, orange peel, baking powder, baking soda and salt; make a well in the center of mixture; set aside.
  • 3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, oil and orange extract. Pour this mixture into bowl with dry ingredients. Stir just until moistened; batter will be slighly lumpy.
  • 4. Spray waffle iron with nonstick spray (I used PAM). Pour batter into waffle iron grid and close lid. Following your waffle iron instructions, bake waffles until completely done. NOTE: My waffle iron instruction say waffles are done when they stop steaming. Repeat with remaining batter. Keep waffles warm in a 200 degree oven until ready to serve.
  • 5. PREPARE CINNAMON TOPPING: In a medium bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour this mixture into a small ziploc bag, seal and set aside.
  • 6. PREPARE CREAM CHEESE TOPPING: In a medium, micorowave-safe bowl (I used a 2 cup pyrex measuring cup) heat butter and cream cheese for about 30 seconds, adding 15 seconds as needed; just until melted. Whisk in powdered sugar and orange extract.
  • 7. WHEN READY TO SERVE: Place waffles on plates, snip a small hole in the bottom corner of ziploc bag and drizzle cinnamon topping over warm waffles, then drizzle cream cheese topping using as much or as little as you like. Serve immediatley.
  • 8. NOTE: I could only eat one of these! I cooled the other waffles and put in the freezer for a quick breakfast for another day. Also put cream cheese topping in a ziploc bag and froze both toppings for later use.

I haven't tried these waffles yet but am planning on trying this very soon. When I make them I will be omitting the liquor in the syrup, replacing with juice.

ORANGE WAFFLES

Orange Waffles image

Stir orange pieces into waffle batter, where they'll caramelize during cooking. Top the waffles with orange segments, and serve with a syrup infused with orange juice and cinnamon.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Breakfast & Brunch Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/3 cup sour cream
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3 oranges, peeled, seeded, and separated into segments, each segment cut into thirds
Orange Spiced Syrup
Vegetable-oil cooking spray

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, and salt. In another bowl, whisk egg, buttermilk, juice, sour cream, and butter. Stir mixture into dry ingredients. Fold in half the oranges.
  • Coat a waffle iron with cooking spray. Cook waffles according to manufacturer's directions, coating iron with cooking spray between batches, as the oranges tend to stick. Keep warm; serve waffles with remaining oranges and orange syrup.

Tips:

  • Use fresh oranges: Fresh oranges provide the best flavor for your waffles. If you don't have fresh oranges, you can use frozen or canned oranges, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Zest the oranges before juicing them: Zesting the oranges before juicing them will help to release the essential oils from the peel, which will give your waffles a more intense orange flavor.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make your waffles tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Cook the waffles on a hot waffle iron: A hot waffle iron will help to create crispy waffles. If your waffle iron is not hot enough, the waffles will be soggy.
  • Serve the waffles immediately: Waffles are best served immediately after they are cooked. If you need to keep them warm, place them in a warm oven or on a heating pad.

Conclusion:

Orange waffles are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast treat. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a stack of fluffy, flavorful waffles that will please everyone at the table. Whether you serve them with butter and syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream, orange waffles are sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a special breakfast, give orange waffles a try. You won't be disappointed!
