I made this up one day because I was wanting something different then the same old pan-fried pork chops (that is how my husband asked me to cook them that day). Time 15m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
2 pork chops
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 cup olive oil for frying

Steps:

  • Before opening the onion soup mix, use your hands to crush the larger bits of onion in the packet. Open the packet, and pour the mix into a shallow bowl. Stir in the flour.
  • Heat the oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat. The oil is hot enough when a pinch of the flour mixture sizzles when tossed into the oil. Coat pork chops in the onion soup mixture, and shake off the excess. Carefully place in the hot oil. Turn chops over after about 30 seconds to quickly sear both sides. Cook for about 4 minutes per side, or to desired degree of doneness.

BASIC PAN-FRIED THIN PORK CHOPS (NO EGG)

Basic Pan-Fried Thin Pork Chops (No Egg) image

This a great pan- sear pork chop made with no egg mixture. Most times you dip in the egg and then dredge. We needed one without egg and this fits the bill. It is geared to be a how to for the newer cook. Being a basic recipe it can be altered to suit anyone's taste. I feed the kids these chops made this way and they gobble them up-no convincing needed. SPICY PAN-FRIED PORK CHOPS

Spicy Pan-Fried Pork Chops image

Pan-fried pork chops with a fiery kick. *Extremely spicy.* I kind of just threw this together while I was messing around in the kitchen one day. The batter or marinade can be easily altered to appeal to anyone's taste. Again, these turn out very spicy, but still have a ton of flavor, not just that hot that leaves your mouth burning.

PAN-FRIED 7-SPICE PORK CHOPS WITH APPLE STUFFING

PAN-FRIED 7-SPICE PORK CHOPS WITH APPLE STUFFING image

Categories     Pork     Quick & Easy     Wheat/Gluten-Free

Yield 2 people

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 Thick, fresh, and boneless pork chops
1/4 c Balsamic fruit vinaigrette or similar
2 1/2 tbs 7-spice power
1/2 Stick of butter
1/4 c Brown sugar
1/2 Medium yellow onion, roughly chopped
1 [Braeburn]apple, roughly chopped
3 oz [Sami's Bakery Millet and Flax] bread, toasted and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/3 c Golden raisins
1 tbs Honey

Steps:

  • Thoroughly coat pork chops in fruit vinaigrette then 1 1/2 tbs 7-spice powder. Set aside. Heat a non-stick chef's pan over medium-high heat. Add butter and sugar. Cut and add onion. Cut and add apple. Add 1 tbs 7 spice powder. Reduce heat to medium. Add honey. Toast [a sliced frozen 3 oz Sami's Bakery hamburger roll or] bread. Add the cubed toasted bread to the pan and toss to mingle the ingredients. Prepare a vegetable! I either microwave broccoli for four minutes in a large bowl with a little water covered with a plate, finished with fresh lemon juice, or sauté Lacinato kale with olive oil, sliced garlic, and cracked pepper and sea salt. Or maybe some steamed julienned zucchini skins or green beans... While your are working with the veggie, transfer the apple stuffing to another vessel to hold. Return the chef's pan to high heat and sear the pork chops on both sides. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and cook to an internal temperature of 135 deg F, or desired doneness. Plate it. Eat it. Enjoy [with wine].

PAN FRIED PORK CHOPS AND CREAMY MUSHROOM RICE

Pan Fried Pork Chops and Creamy Mushroom Rice image

This is a good one for the working parents who need to feed their family in a hurry. The prep and cook times are really short. Dinner is ready in less than an hour!!!

Provided by Melissa Lambert

Categories     Steaks and Chops

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 11

4-6 boneless (thick cut) pork chops
vegetable oil (enough to coat the bottom of the pan)
garlic powder
onion powder
paprika
black pepper
cavenders greek seasoning
2 c any kind of rice (i use white)
4 c water
2 can(s) campbells cream of mushroom soup (standard size cans)
1/2 can(s) milk (this is optional-see directions below)

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium to large skillet (depending on size and number of pork chops) preheat the oil.
  • 2. Season both sides of each pork chop to taste with each of the seasonings. Over medium brown the pork chops until each side is golden (watch them carefully as they burn quickly).
  • 3. When each chop is browned on both sides, add enough water to the bottom of the pan (I pour between the chops) and cover the pan. Don't use too much water as it will wash the seasonings off the meat. Reduce heat to low. This steams the chops, cooking them without burning. NOTE: you will still need to turn them and rotate them and watch the water in the pan. You don't want to dry out the pan and burn your chops.
  • 4. While the chops are cooking (usually only take about 8 minutes or so so watch them carefully or else they dry out), add rice and water to the pan and cook according to the package directions. You can use minute or instant rice if you would prefer or a rice cooker will also work.
  • 5. When the rice is done and the pork chops are cooked, remove the chops from the pan and pour your cooked rice into the pork chop pan. You want all of the seasonings and drippings from the meat so don't pour that out. Stir the seasoning mixture and rice together and add the two cans of mushroom soup. The rice should be creamy so if it's looking dry, add 1/4 can(I use the empty soup can) of milk at a time until the rice mix is creamy-not watery. Heat until rice and sauce are hot. Serve with your favorite veggie. Enjoy!

PAN-FRIED BREADED PORK CHOPS

Pan-Fried Breaded Pork Chops image

Look for beautiful good-quality pork, such as Berkshire, and ask for center-cut loin chops with bone. For the bread crumbs, use day-old firm white sandwich bread or French loaf, cubed and whirled in a food processor, for about three cups of soft, fluffy crumbs. Dry, fine store-bought crumbs will not yield the same result. Make sure to fry these chops very gently over medium-high heat, to allow the bread-crumb coating to brown slowly, creating a crisp, golden crust. Serve with a tart salad or braised greens, such as broccoli rabe.

Provided by David Tanis

Categories     meat, steaks and chops, main course

Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 (8-ounce) center-cut pork chops, about 1/2-inch thick
Kosher salt and black pepper
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
Small pinch of cayenne powder
All-purpose flour, for sprinkling
3 cups fresh bread crumbs (from 8 slices crustless day-old sandwich bread)
1 cup clarified butter, extra-virgin olive oil or lard, plus more as needed
Lemon wedges, for garnish

Steps:

  • Lay pork chops on a baking sheet, and season well on both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Combine eggs and milk in a low, flat bowl. Season with salt, pepper and the small pinch of cayenne.
  • Sprinkle flour generously over the chops on both sides, then shake off excess.
  • Submerge the floured chops in the egg mixture, and turn them over several times to coat well. Leave chops in egg mixture for 5 minutes.
  • Use your left hand to remove a chop from the batter and drain off excess liquid. Place chop on a baking sheet and, with your right hand, heavily sprinkle with bread crumbs on both sides. Repeat with remaining chops.
  • Sprinkle each chop again with crumbs, patting with your hand to make sure crumbs adhere and coat well. Refrigerate, uncovered, until ready to fry.
  • Set a wide cast-iron or other heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add clarified butter to a depth of 1/2 inch. When butter is hot, lay in the chops without crowding, and let them fry very gently, about 4 to 5 minutes per side, until beautifully golden brown. (Turn down heat if they seem to be browning too fast.) If your pan is small, cook in 2 batches and keep finished chops warm in a 250-degree oven.
  • Blot cooked chops on paper towels. Transfer to a warm platter or individual plates. Serve with lemon wedges.

Tips:

  • Selecting the Right Pork Chops: Opt for bone-in pork chops with a thickness of 1-1.5 inches, ensuring a juicy and flavorful result. Look for chops that have a good amount of marbling, indicating a tender texture.
  • Preparing the Pork Chops: To achieve a crispy exterior and juicy interior, pat the pork chops dry to remove excess moisture. Season generously with salt and pepper, allowing them to rest for at least 15 minutes to enhance the flavor penetration.
  • Choosing the Cooking Oil: For a flavorful and crispy crust, use a combination of butter and olive oil. The butter will provide a rich taste, while the olive oil will help prevent burning. Alternatively, you can use ghee or avocado oil for their high smoke points.
  • Cooking the Pork Chops: Heat the skillet over medium-high heat until the oil is shimmering. Sear the pork chops for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue cooking for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F. Allow the pork chops to rest for a few minutes before serving, allowing the juices to redistribute for a more tender bite.
  • Flavorful Marinades and Sauces: Experiment with various marinades or sauces to infuse the pork chops with different flavors. Try a mixture of olive oil, garlic, herbs, and spices, or a tangy sauce made from citrus, honey, and soy sauce. Marinate the pork chops for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight to allow the flavors to penetrate deeply.
  • Accompaniments: Serve the pan-fried pork chops with a variety of sides to create a balanced meal. Mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad are classic accompaniments that complement the tender pork chops.
  • Conclusion:

Pan-frying pork chops is a simple yet flavorful cooking method that yields juicy, tender, and crispy results. By following these tips and experimenting with different marinades and sauces, you can create a delicious and satisfying dish that will impress your family and friends. Remember to choose high-quality pork chops, season them well, cook them to the right internal temperature, and let them rest before serving. With a little practice, you'll be able to master the art of pan-frying pork chops and enjoy this versatile dish anytime you crave a hearty and satisfying meal.
