These green beans were the side dish my grandmother served most often because we all love them. They are done but not mushy like canned beans.

Yield 5

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 ½ pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and snapped
garlic powder to taste
onion powder to taste
salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • In a stainless steel pot over medium-high heat, combine green beans, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Cook, covered, until the beans begin to sweat. Remove lid and stir occasionally until beans are tender.
  • When the beans and spices have begun to 'burn' on the bottom of the pan, which will lend a grilled flavor, stir in the olive oil and turn off heat. Cover, and let stand a few minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pan to incorporate the 'burnt' spices. Beans should have a dark, caramel color, but not black.

Tips:

  • Choose the right salmon. Look for wild-caught salmon that is fresh or frozen. Avoid farmed salmon, as it is often lower in quality and may contain contaminants.
  • Cook the salmon properly. Salmon is a delicate fish, so it is important to cook it carefully. Pan-frying is a great way to cook salmon, as it allows you to get a crispy skin and a tender, flaky interior.
  • Use fresh ingredients. The fresher the ingredients, the better your dish will taste. Use fresh garlic, green beans, and potatoes for the best results.
  • Season your food well. Don't be afraid to use salt and pepper to taste. You can also add other spices or herbs, such as thyme, rosemary, or paprika.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables. Vegetables should be cooked until they are tender but still retain their bright color and crisp texture.

Conclusion:

This pan-fried salmon with garlic mash and green beans is a delicious and healthy meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The salmon is cooked to perfection and the garlic mash and green beans are a flavorful and nutritious accompaniment. This dish is sure to please everyone at the table.
