My grandmother used to make this pie when we had Christmas at her house. She used a paper bag to cover the pie, but in the updated version we use parchment paper. It is a very old recipe. Enjoy!

Tips:
- Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn.
- Peel and slice the apples thinly so that they cook evenly.
- Add a little sugar and spices to the apples for sweetness and flavor. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are all good choices.
- Use a large sheet of parchment paper to wrap the apple pie. This will help to keep the pie from leaking.
- Bake the apple pie at a high temperature for the first 15 minutes to help the crust brown. Then, reduce the temperature and continue baking until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Let the apple pie cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. This will help the pie to set and make it easier to slice.
