Time 40m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 tablespoon olive oil
½ cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 pound kielbasa sausage, sliced
1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 pinch crushed red pepper, or to taste
1 (16 ounce) package penne pasta
1 cup frozen peas
3 leaves fresh basil, julienned, or more to taste
1 cup shredded Cheddar-Monterey Jack cheese blend

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil for pasta.
  • Meanwhile, heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a deep skillet. Add onion and garlic to the hot oil and saute just until tender, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat and let sauce simmer while you cook pasta.
  • Add penne to the pot of boiling water and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 11 minutes, stirring peas into pasta during last 2 minutes of cooking time.

KIELBASA BOW TIE SKILLET

Kielbasa Bow Tie Skillet image

Not only is this kielbasa pasta skillet a real crowd-pleaser, it comes together in just one pan. My daughters are picky eaters, but this reminds them of macaroni and cheese. I toss in their favorite veggies and they gobble it up! It freezes and reheats beautifully, too, so you'll want to fix extras for a fast entree later. -Lori Daniels, Beverly, West Virginia

EASY KIELBASA SKILLET DINNER

Easy Kielbasa Skillet Dinner image

The house always smells awesome while this very tasty, filling meal is cooking. It makes kielbasa worth stocking up on when it goes on sale and uses basic/cheap ingredients overall. Vary the vegetables depending on what you have on hand. For example add/replace broccoli with a can of corn and/or peas, etc. If you like a little heat, sprinkle a little hot sauce on top after it's cooked. This should make about 4 servings, but it almost always turns out to be split into 2 large servings between the me and the boyfriend. We like to crisp up/brown the kielbasa slightly before adding the vegetables.

Time 20m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 lbs kielbasa (cut into bite sized pieces)
1 (1 lb) box bow tie pasta (or whatever floats your boat)
1 (16 ounce) jar prego pasta sauce
1 (1 ounce) packet crushed red pepper flakes
1 red bell pepper (cut into bite sized pieces)
1 cup sour cream
parmesan cheese, for topping

Steps:

  • The packet of crushed red pepper I used was from Pizza Hut, it was available & easy so I just added that. You can substitute about 1 tbsp crushed red pepper if you don't have one laying around --
  • Prepare pasta according to package directions & drain. While pasta is cooking, heat butter & olive oil, add Kielbasa, crushed pepper & red bell pepper, sautee' until kielbasa is browned.
  • In pasta pot add drained pasta, kielbasa mixture, pasta sauce & sour cream. Heat through, serve & top with parmesan to taste. You can omit the parmesan if you like, it's still very tasty!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh vegetables, flavorful kielbasa, and a good quality pasta will make all the difference in this dish.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: If you add too much food to the pan at once, it will steam instead of sautéing. Cook the vegetables in batches if necessary.
  • Season to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You may also want to add a squeeze of lemon juice or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
  • Serve immediately: This dish is best served hot, right out of the pan. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil for a pop of color and flavor.

Conclusion:

Pasta skillet with kielbasa is a quick, easy, and delicious meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. It is also a great way to use up leftover kielbasa. With its simple ingredients and bold flavors, this dish is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
