Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 2-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, stir together cream cheese and next 3 ingredients until well combined. Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Remove from oven, and sprinkle with bacon. Note: Two (10-ounce) bags thawed frozen chopped onions can be substituted for Vidalias or sweet onions. Dry the onions well between paper towels; otherwise, the extra moisture in the onions will make the dip watery.
PAULA DEEN'S CARAMELIZED VIDALIA ONION AND BLUE CHEESE HOT DIP
This is a quick and easy dip to make that everyone seems to love. I used panko bread crumbs because that is what I had in my pantry. I also found that you needed to cut the onion pieces into smaller strips (I took the onion and cut it in half and then half again). I also used Clemson Blue Cheese.

THE BEST BAKED VIDALIA ONION DIP!
This is always a huge hit at my get togethers and everyone wants the recipe for it --- this takes only minutes to make and you may adjust the garlic amount as you wish, I would start with the 2 teaspoons for a milder garlic flavor or use garlic powder in place of fresh garlic --- this recipe can easily be doubled, you will *LOVE* this! :)

CARAMELIZED VIDALIA ONION AND BOURSIN CHEESE DIP
I created this dip for my daughter who loves both onion dip and boursin cheese. I use light ingredients but there is nothing very light about it. I figure cut the fat where you can. Also if Boursin cheese is not available or you would prefer a more economical choice, use the herb and garlic cream cheese for equally good results.

Steps:
- Saute onion, salt and pepper in the butter on medium low heat until caramelized to a light brown. Do not scorch the onions. Stir often for about 30-40 minutes. Let cool.
- Meanwhile, mix the remaining ingredients in a medium bowl. Boursin cheese can be crumbly so often I will mix these ingredients in a small food processor then add to bowl.
- When onions are room temperature stir them into sour cream mixture and refrigerate for at least 4 hours for flavors to meld.

Tips:
- Choose ripe and sweet Vidalia onions. They will caramelize better and have a more intense flavor.
- Slice the onions thinly. This will help them caramelize evenly.
- Cook the onions over medium-low heat. This will allow them to caramelize slowly and develop a deep flavor.
- Don't stir the onions too often. Stirring will prevent them from caramelizing properly.
- Use a good quality blue cheese. A sharp, tangy blue cheese will complement the sweetness of the onions.
- Serve the dip hot. This will allow the flavors to meld together and create a delicious and satisfying dish.
Conclusion:
Paula Deen's Caramelized Vidalia Onion and Blue Cheese Hot Dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. The combination of sweet onions, tangy blue cheese, and creamy mayonnaise is sure to please everyone. This dip is also a great way to use up leftover onions.
