Cake Mix Peanut Butter Bars Recipe image

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 white cake mix
1 egg
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup canola oil
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
3/4 cup chopped peanuts
1 cup chopped Reese's (I used the Reese's Minis and cut them into thirds!)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix cake mix, egg, peanut butter and canola oil in a large bowl. Mix with large spoon (or hands) until it makes a crumbly dough. Press 3/4 dough into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • Set the 1/4 dough mixture aside.
  • Pour entire can of sweetened condensed milk over the pressed dough. Then sprinkle peanuts, peanut butter chips, and Reese's on top. The remaining dough should be a little crumbly, sprinkle what's left over the condensed milk and toppings. Most of the middle layer should be covered.
  • Place in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  • Cool for at least 45 minutes before serving, or dig in with a spoon right out of the oven for a gooey warm peanut butter treat! ;)

Yield 24 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

•2/3 cup butter, softened
•2/3 cup peanut butter
•1 cup sugar
•1 cup packed brown sugar
•4 eggs
•2 teaspoons vanilla extract
•2 cups all-purpose flour
•2 teaspoons baking powder
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1 package (11-1/2 ounces) milk chocolate chips

Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Tips:

  • Soften your butter: This will make it easier to cream together with the sugar and eggs, resulting in a smoother batter.
  • Use a quality peanut butter: The better the peanut butter, the better your bars will taste. Look for a peanut butter that is made with 100% peanuts and no added sugar or salt.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can make the bars tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the bars before cutting: This will help them to set and make them easier to cut.
  • Store the bars in an airtight container: This will help them to stay fresh for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:
